Work week parameters are used for two purposes in the application:
For project planning & costing purposes (how many hours in a week/day etc.)
To restrict users to posting in a desired time frame – example: users can not post time into the future before they have worked.
To use this functionality follow the menu path of Main Menu >> Configuration >> Application Configuration then select the “Work Week Parameters” button.

Planning Section:
In the planning section of the page, please check off the work days that the average employee is present for, the number of hours that they are expected to work per day, and the total hours that an employee is expected to work per week.
Posting Restriction Section:
The posting restriction settings are extremely useful. They are used to restrict the creation of new postings and limit them to occur within a defined period of time.
Important Concepts:
Time, User Expenses & General expenses all have their own set of restriction settings. This provides administrators the ability to restrict one type of posting but not another.
Restrictions do not need to be used. A restriction setting is not in effect if it is set to ‘Not Applicable’.
For a set of restrictions, ie. Time, if one restriction is exceeded, no new postings can be created for the posting date.
Setting Definitions:
1. Days Into Future: The number of days into the future for which a new posting can be created. Based on the current date, a user can create postings for a specific number of days into the future.
Example: Current Date: 1/1/2008
Setting: 5 Days
New postings are allowed through 1/6/2008 (current date + setting). New postings will not be allowed for 1/7/2008 onwards.
This setting effectively restricts users from creating new postings for future dates unless the future date falls within the current date + the setting value.
2. Days Into Past: The number of days into the past for which a new posting can be created. Based on the current date, a user can create new postings for dates that have gone by back until the current date - the setting value.
Example: Current Date: 1/1/2008
Setting: 5 Days
New postings are allowed for 12/27/2007 onwards (1/1/2008 – 5). New postings can not be created for dates prior to 12/27/2007.
This setting effectively limits users from creating new posting for work that was performed too long ago.
3. Days Past Week Ending Date: For the date being posted to, the number of days past the posting weeks ending date for which a new posting can be created. Based on the date being posted to, a user can create new postings for that week up until this settings number of days have lapsed.
Example: Date Posted to: 1/1/2008
Week Ending Date : 1/5/2008
Setting: 5 Days
The system looks at the date being posted to, determines the week ending date (1/5/2008), and adds the setting to the week ending date. If the current date is after the week ending date + the setting value, new postings are not allowed.
This setting effectively locks a week from being posted to after a specific number of days past the weeks ending date.
4. Days Past Month Ending Date: For the date being posted to, the number of days past the posting months ending date for which a new posting can be created. If a user wants to create a new postings for a date in January, and this setting is set to a value of ‘5 Days’, then the system will let a user create a new posting for the month of January up until February 5th. On February 6th, no new postings will be allowed for the month of January.
Example: Date Posted to: 1/15/2008
Month Ending Date: 1/31/2008
Setting: 5 Days
This setting effectively locks a month from being posted to after a specific number of days past the months ending date.
Settings Example:
Settings: Days Into Future: Not Applicable
Days Into Past: Not Applicable
Days Past Week Ending Date: 5 days
Days Past Month Ending Date: 10 days
Example 1. Current Date: 1/05/2008
Date Posted To: 12/15/2007
Based on the settings above, a new posting would NOT be allowed for 12/15/2007 because it failed to pass one of the restrictions:
Days Week Ending Date: FAILED
Days Past Month Ending Date: PASS
